Offerings
I provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families, with a focus on AAPI, BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent folx. I have a special affinity for students, tech workers, activists, and those in the helping profession. I am currently accepting new Telehealth clients anywhere in California. I have a waitlist for in-person sessions in San Francisco. (Updated May 2025)

Individual
When we come to therapy we might want support with one issue only to discover much more. It is often a challenging but rewarding journey.

Couples
You may find yourself trapped in the same frustrating patterns. You care for each other and want to make it work, but don't know how to move forward. Couples therapy can help you build the relationship you desire.

Family
I serve families of all shapes and sizes. I support you in learning new ways of communicating and breaking out of old dynamics.

Approach
Mindful & Compassionate
In our sessions together we will deeply listen to whatever is on your mind. I will often invite us to slow down, noticing and making space for what might be just below the surface. Non-judgmental awareness is the first step to lasting change. When we spend time listening to our different parts we gain insight into who we are. This understanding allows us to let go of limiting beliefs and make different choices. Therapy is a place to rest, play, and experiment with a different way of being in the world. Things may feel awkward, frustrating, or painful at first–you are learning something new after all! But with patience and practice, you will be able to experience life with more joy and harmony.
While talking is certainly powerful, I also incorporate somatic and experiential components. My approach is informed by gestalt, IFS, Hakomi, and Buddhist psychology. I hold a social justice lens and see much of our distress as symptoms of systemic oppression. I am non-pathologizing and believe the seeds of growth are already within us–it just takes some watering.
We all deserve a life rooted in dignity and meaning. It would be an honor to assist you in getting support.
About
Michelle Wong (she/they)
As a Chinese, queer, second generation immigrant, I understand the struggles of navigating different cultural value systems. I deeply empathize with being highly sensitive, continuously striving for perfection, and always putting others first.
Growing up in a middle class, immigrant family, I pursued a "practical" career in STEM. And while I checked many of the boxes that would supposedly bring me happiness, I was never satisfied. I was isolated, feeling unfulfilled in work and in relationships. Therapy supported me in getting back in touch with my creativity, aliveness, and spirit. I hope to support others in returning to connection with themselves, others, and our planet. This work is important to me because our healing contributes to building a more kind and compassionate society.
I am an engaged Buddhist and practice in the Plum Village tradition. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and spending time outdoors.

Fees
I offer weekly therapy and my fee for a 50 minute session is $125. For couples and families I typically suggest longer pro-rated sessions. I do not directly bill insurance but can offer a superbill for reimbursement. My sliding scale slots are currently full but please get in touch if you'd like to be notified when spots open up.
